Beads and Thread, national curated group exhibition of fiber arts, at Las Vegas City Hall Chamber Gallery, 495 S. Main Street (2nd floor). Through July 13. Also at City Hall, Jennifer Henry, Nesting, part of the City of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs' rotating series of temporary window installations "Windows on First," along First Street, through Aug. 27.

Valley of Faces: Pareidolia in the Basin and Range, group exhibition with Matthew Couper, Steve D. Craft, Natalie Delgado, Amanda Farrar, Jeannie Hua Ferguson, Myron Hensel, Bekah Just, Angee Jackson, Checko Salgado, Sean Slattery, Greg Telles, Justin-Aaron Velasco. Valley of Faces is located in the Basin and Range National Monument in the portion of the monument east of Highway 318. Hosted by the Friends of Basin and Range National Monument the exhibition shares information and literature about Basin and Range which is currently under review by Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, public comment is open until July 10. The exhibition is on view through July 13, 2017 at the Winchester Cultural Center Gallery.
Laurens Tan, Babalogic II. Tan’s exhibit features the Tower of Babel, a fitting symbol of the cacophony of his wandering life and his search for his roots in a rapidly changing China. A Matter of Personality, Eric Burwell, Scott Grow, Camilla Quinn and Sean Slattery. If personality is defined as a set of distinctive traits and characteristics, then it certainly can serve as a descriptor of art. The title comes from a statement made by Marcel Duchamp, a perceptive observer and seminal artist who stated, “Art is all a matter of personality.” Whether the art establishes its own personality or it is reflective of the personality of the maker, the four artists whose work is part of this exhibition, offer a glimpse into the distinctive nature of their art. Tested Ground, Andreana Donahue, Alexa Hoyer, Joan Linder, Jenny Odell, Nicolas Shake at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art. a major artistic exploration of the ways in which our civilization uses the land around us for work, recreation, and waste disposal. Paying special attention to the region surrounding Las Vegas, five American and international artists use a variety of media to probe a relationship we sometimes take for granted. Play On Gary, Play On, curated by D.K. Sole in the West Gallery at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art, a meditation on the point in time between an action being anticipated and the moment when it is carried out. Imaginatively it reinterprets the delay through a series of objects from the Barrick's Collection. May 26-September 16.
Call for Proposals and The Bus to the Barrick Campaign
To celebrate their 50th year of service to Las Vegas, the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art plans to increase the number of free field trips they offer to Clark County School District students. Visits to the Barrick may be the first time that many young Las Vegans encounter the visual arts outside the classroom. For some, it may also be their first exposure to an art museum or a university campus. Please consider contributing to this fundraising campaign to assist students on their path to lifelong learning. The College of Southern Nevada, Department of Fine Arts, Art & Art History Program is currently accepting exhibition proposals for its 2018 - 2019 Exhibition Season for the College’s Fine Arts Gallery and Artspace Gallery. Solo and group exhibitions of all media and genre will be considered. Deadline September 15. More information here.

Eric Anthony Berdis, Neck Out. Derived from childhood fantasies Eric Anthony Berdis’ work explores the metamorphosis of a becoming a Country Gay to a City Queer. Set among plush objects and phallic faux-fur sculptures, Berdis transforms into a nonviolent homophobia fighting superhero. Their performance “Neck Out,” seeks to simulate the jarring experience of being stereotyped while simultaneously examining the ways we navigate towards and create safe spaces. July 14-July 30. What’s Love Got to Do With It? Panel Discussion on July 15, 6:30-8PM. The San Francisco Arts Commission and the California Historical Society present a panel discussion featuring the three artists commissioned for the “Summer of Love” themed Art on Market Street Kiosk Poster Series: Deborah Aschheim, Kate Haug and Sarah Hotchkiss. Cynthia Daignault, Dan Fischer, Ellen Lesperance, Makers Catalogue at Derek Eller Gallery in New York. The artists in this exhibition have catalogued creative labor by gathering images and have built non-didactic indexes of those actions. Textiles, art historic documentation, and ephemera from the artist’s studio practice have been collected, organized and re-imagined. Through August 11.

Marc Dombrosky Self Awareness, Platform Gallery through July. This exhibition consists of seven cases, each filled with texts and images. “Hand-embroidery overwriting on found texts and images unites works within a group (and all groups together, like chapters)—the thread that doubles written marks recounts stories, slows process, and perforates meaning.
