OPEN CALL: Dis/Order Online Exhibition #2
Death, love, rebirth, endings, science, information, and destruction. As humans, we crave order and work every day to accomplish this but the natural trend of the material universe will gradually send us into disorder.
Artists are invited to submit work of any medium to Settler + Nomads second digital exhibition call Dis/Order curated by Jennifer Kleven & Krystal Ramirez
Works will be presented as digital images or video in an online gallery on our website by late May 2019.

NOTIFICATION: Applicants will be notified by late April
EXHIBITION DATES: The digital exhibition will go live by late May 2019
GUIDELINES:
1. Please submit your 75-word bio, images and other information via THIS FORM.
2. Artists may submit up to three works. Please label each jpeg titled with your name, the title of the image, year of completion, and medium (i.e. William_Eggleston_Cactus_1980_Chromogenic_jpeg) Image size must be smaller than 10MB.
Video submissions: please share a vimeo link and password.
IMPORTANT: Please do NOT submit zipped folders of images and please do NOT watermark your images.

All submissions must follow the above guidelines. Artists Krystal Ramiez and Jennifer Kleven will select images to feature in Settlers + Nomads online Group Show #2: Dis/Order, which will go live on our website settlersandnomads.com in May 2019. Select images will be shared on the S + N Instagram feed. The exhibition will be promoted via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and through our mailing list.
About the curators:
Jennifer Kleven is an artist and arts administrator working in her home city of Las Vegas, Nevada. She received a Bachelors of Arts in Art History and Bachelors of Fine Arts in Studio Art in 2009 from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She operated Kleven Contemporary, a gallery exhibiting emerging artists in downtown Las Vegas, from 2010- 2013, and her own work has been exhibited at Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery and the Jesse Metcalf Gallery at UNLV, Contemporary Arts Center, Trifecta Gallery and, most recently, at the Winchester Cultural Center. A Las Vegas lens has led her to discover perfect unrealities and false identities. She currently splits her artistic time between photography, ceramics, and horticulture.
As the Grants and Memberships Manager at the Neon Museum, she supports the museum’s mission to collect, preserve, study and exhibit iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts and cultural enrichment. Her seven years of experience working in museums has given her a holistic approach to museum engagement with the local community, reaching new underserved audiences.
Krystal Ramirez is a Las Vegas-based artist working across media, utilizing everyday materials, found text and photography to engage in motifs of race, gender, and physical/emotional labor within the framework of her Latinidad. Employing labor-intensive craft and repetition, she constructs unfinished thoughts as text works for her audience to read and consider. She’s interested in the female gaze, the construction of identity and the subjective experience of language. She has exhibited in New York and Nevada and, most recently, her work was exhibited in ¡Americanx! at the Donna Beam Gallery, Plural at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art and in Tilting the Basin: Contemporary Art of Nevada at the Nevada Museum of Art. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Arts from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her work was recently featured in a profile in the publication Creative Exchange.
